THE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMICAL & BIOMOLECULAR ENGINEERING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH ALABAMA invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related field by the time of appointment and an outstanding academic record. All candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education and be able to teach courses in both the undergraduate and graduate core chemical engineering curriculum.The successful candidate will be expected to establish a competitive, extramurally-funded research program. All areas of research will be considered and candidates whose research interests integrate with the interdisciplinary doctoral programs in Systems Engineering or the Biomedical Engineering track of the Basic Medical Sciences program are especially encouraged to apply. The expected start date is as early as January 1, 2016.

The Department is located in a new, state-of-the-art 155,000 sq. ft. Engineering & Computing Science building. The College of Engineering has 4 ABET-accredited departments: Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

The College also houses interdisciplinary analytical chemistry and electron microscopy facilities and is home to several nationally-recognized research centers, including the Center for Lung Biology. Additionally, the University is located in a region with a well-established chemical industry corridor. Mobile is a busy international port and a main center of commerce for approximately 600,000 people in Alabama’s two coastal counties.
