Graduate Research Assistantship in Agricultural Regulations, botany and plant science USA

 

A master level graduate research assistantship in plant genomics and biotechnology is available starting Fall 2015. The graduate assistant will work in a research project focused on sweet potato comparative transcriptome sequencing, sequence analysis, SNP marker development and genome-wide association studies to identify genomic regions involved in storage root formation, while earning M.S. degree in Agricultural Regulations.Applicant must have earned a B.S. degree in botany, biology, plant science, horticulture, plant breeding and genetics, plant molecular biology or a related discipline from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 2.7 and GRE score of 290 (verbal + quantitative). The minimum TOEFL score required is 550 (paper-based test) or 213 (computer-based test) or 79 (internet-based test) for admission to the graduate program. Candidate with experience in molecular marker development and analysis will be given preference.

Applicant will be evaluated on the basis of undergraduate grades, letters of recommendation, GRE and TOEFL scores, a resume, and a letter of intent.

Assistantship: $17,800 in the first year and $18,800 in the second year.
