Six PhD Positions at the Bielefeld University: Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology (BGHS) is a joint institution of the Department of History and Faculty of Sociology at Bielefeld University (Germany).

Duration: The maximum duration is 3 years starting 1 April 2017.

The department is looking for highly motivated researchers with genuine interest in an academic environment that fosters creativity through interdisciplinary exchange.

Tasks involved:

1. Successful candidates are expected to conduct research within the PhD program
2. The BGHS promotes research in the fields of sociology, history, political science, social anthropology and didactics of social sciences in the research fields available at the BGHS.

Eligibility Conditions

1. Have Master’s degree or equivalent in sociology, political science, history, social anthropology or gender studies, Inter-American Studies (IAS), Philosophy and Sociology of Science (HPSS);
2. Applications from other related disciplines are welcome;
3. Women and candidates with an international background are encouraged to apply;
4. Qualified candidates with severe disabilities or similarly disabled candidates are explicitly encouraged to apply.

Scholarship: Two year part-time appointment (65% full-time equivalent, salary scale TV-L E13) with the option of a One year extension upon positive evaluation.
