The Tilburg Graduate Law School (TGLS) of Tilburg Law School at Tilburg University invites applications for 7 ambitious PhD researcher positions.

About the Positions:

  • PhD Research opportunity in Law & Development
  • One of the 7 PhDs will participate in the European Joint Doctorate in Law & Development (EDOLAD).
  • This is a PhD programme jointly run by six law faculties at universities in Europe and South Africa: Tilburg University (NL), Oslo University (N), the University of Edinburgh (UK), Deusto University (E), Tartu University (EE) and North-Western University Potchefstroom (ZA).
  • The programme has been made possible by funding from the European Union’s Lifelong Learning Programme

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must be outstanding student, with an excellent command of English
  • Applicant must have completed (or will complete by the end of the August) a Master in Law or a Master in adjacent fields like Law and Economics, Law and Technology, Law and Labour Law, Politics and Public Administration, or Victimology.
  • Applicants holding research Master’s degree are encouraged to apply.
  • Applicant must have strong interest in doing research and is able to formulate views, ideas and concepts based upon complex information, as well as construct conceptual frameworks or models.

Duration:

  • total duration of the PhD trajectory is four years (48 months)
  • Selected candidate will be initially appointed for a fixed period of 16 months
  • An evaluation will take place after 12 months; may be extended for the remaining period of 32 months.

Salary:

  • gross salary is € 2.191/month (for a full-time appointment)
  • salary will raise every 12 months to a maximum of € 2.801 (based on the PhD salary scale of the Collective Labour Agreement (CAO) Dutch Universities)
