Alex Rodgers Travelling Scholarship: ANU 1800 views

Alex Rodgers Travelling Scholarship is dedicated to assist a student currently enrolled in the Graduate Program in Astronomy and Astrophysics to travel abroad to attend scientific meetings and/or to work with astronomers at a different institution on some particular research project of direct relevance to the thesis work being undertaken.

Eligibility:
  • Applicant must be a full-time current PhD student.
  • A successful applicant is ineligible to apply again.
  • Nationality criteria: Australian and New Zealand nationals; Permanent residents of Australia; Overseas students.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in the Graduate Program in Astronomy and Astrophysics.

Criteria for Selection:

The committee will take into account the:

  1. scientific merit of the proposed program
  2. advantage of the program to the student
  3. value to RSAA
  4. effective use of funds from the Scholarship

Number of Scholarships: 1 or 2 scholarships may be granted every year, depending on available funds. The

Scholarship value: $6,000

Application

  • Applications will be called for with a closing date of the end of February, each year. They should be addressed to: Academic Services Officer Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics.
  • Application must include: proposed schedule; budget; indicate any other sources of funding for the proposed travel.

  • supervisory support where it is intended that part of the course is to be followed at an institution other than the University or where it is envisioned that the student will be suspending the course to work at an institution other than the University on a subject not directly related to the thesis

Duration:

  • scholarship must be used for travel within a year of its award
