Archaeology of Portugal Fellowship at AIA, USA 1002 views

Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) is North America’s oldest and largest organization dedicated to the world of archaeology. The organization is a non-profit group. The AIA has nearly 210,000 Members and more than 100 Local Societies in the USA, Canada, and world-wide. The members include professional archaeologists, corresponding members, students, and enthusiasts, all integrated by a shared passion for archaeology and its role in furthering human knowledge.

AIA promotes archaeological inquiry and public indulgent of the material record of the human past to nurture an appreciation of diverse cultures and our shared humanity.  The AIA backs archaeologists, their research and its propagation, and the ethical practice of archaeology. The organization educates people of all ages about the significance of archaeological discovery and promotes the preservation of the world’s archaeological heritage.

Fellowship Amount: It varies; generally awards range from $2,000 to $8,000 ($7,500 is the current maximum)
About the Archaeology Program:

The fellowship supports project related to the archaeology of Portugal, to be conducted for almost a year. These include (not limited) research projects, colloquia, symposia, publication, and travel for research or to academic meetings for the purpose of presenting papers on the archaeology of Portugal. AIA fellowship funds may not be used for institutional overhead, institutional administrative recovery costs, or institutional indirect costs.

Requirements:

  • Nationals of Portugal, America or any other international scholars may apply.
  • Applicants should be members of the AIA throughout the fellowship term.
  • Note: All application materials (including references and transcripts) must be received at the AIA before the deadline.
  • After finishing the project, recipients must submit a report to the AIA Fellowships Committee.
  • Recipients are also anticipated to submit an abstract to the Program Committee within 2 years in order to be considered for participation in the AIA yearly Meeting.
