AStar Youth Scholarship for Indian Students, Singapore 3021 views

AStar (A*STAR) Youth Scholarship is now open for Indian High/Secondary school students. This Scholarship is attainable for 4 years leading to the award of the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education ‘Advanced’ (GCE ‘A’) Level (or equivalent) certificate. The Scholarship is for studies in selected Singapore schools from Secondary Three to Pre-University Two and is renewed annually, subject to the acceptable performance of the scholar.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must be India Nationals
  • Applicant must born between 2000 and 2002
  • Applicant must have completed Standard VIII in the Year 2016
  • Applicant must have outstanding academic track record (at least an average of 80% or minimum ‘A’ with English as first language in the Standards VII and VIII school final examinations)
  • Applicant must have a high level of competency in English (oral and written)

Schedule for Scholarship allotment: Dates given are uncertain and are subject to changes.

  • Application Period: June 2017 to July 2017
  • Selection Test: End August to early September 2017
  • Selection Interview: October End to early November 2017
  • Award of Scholarship: Mid to late November 2017
  • Arrival of Scholar in Singapore: Late December 2017

Candidates short-listed for the selection test/interview will be informed a week before the selection test/interview dates.

AStar Award:

  • Annual allowance: S$2,200 for Secondary and S$2,400 for Pre-University with hostel accommodation
  • Settling-in allowance: S$400 (one-time payment)
  • Return economy class air passage
  • Coverage of school fees (excluding miscellaneous fees)
  • Coverage of GCE ‘O’ Level and ‘A’ Level examination fees (once only, if applicable)
  • Subsidized medical benefits and accident insurance cover

Application Procedures:

  • Apply online using the online application system.
  • Applicant must submit only 1 application.
  • All applicants must send certified copies of the following documents directly to the Singapore Ministry of Education: Birth Certificate; Identity Card / Passport (if any); Final Examination Result Slips for the last two years (Standards 7 and 8 final examinations)
