BIRAC Announces 34th SBIRI Call for Proposals

Invites Proposals for Supporting Affordable Product Development (Discovery to Commercialization) under

  1. Small Business Innovation Research Initiative (SBIRI)
    2. Biotechnology Industry Partnership Programme IBIPPJ &
    3. Promoting Academic Research Conversion to Enterprise (PACE]

Unique features

1.    Support for discovery, proof-of-concept and early stage innovations, R&D aimed at affordable product development.

 Aims:

1.    To nurture and mentor innovative and emerging technologies/ entrepreneurs, to assist new enterprises to forge appropriate linkages with academia and government.

2.    To create opportunities for starting new technology-based or knowledge-based businesses by science entrepreneurs

3.    To stimulate technological innovations

4.    Financial support is extended as a Grant-in-aid limited to Rs. 50.00 lakhs with a contribution from the Company.

KEY FEATURES OF THE CALL

An Advanced Technology Scheme for high risk,transformational technology/ process development from proof-of-concept to validation leading to high value product commercialization

1.    Support new and futuristic technology development with major social bearing but uncertain market driven demand

2.    Support start-ups, SME’s and other Biotech companies on cost sharing basis

 Eligibility Conditions

1.    A single or consortia of Indian company (ies) registered under “The Indian Companies Act 2013” with minimum 51%

2.    Indian ownership, and DSIR recognized in-house R&D unit, are eligible to apply either alone, or in collaboration with

3.    a partner from another Company/Institute/University (Companies in the process of obtaining DSIR recognition may also apply; however, their funding would be subject to getting DSIR recognition)

 Application Procedure

1.    Proposals for the Scheme is required to be submitted online only. To submit a proposal online, please log on to the BIRAC website.

2.    No Hard Copy to be submitted. Proposals submitted online only would be considered.

3.    Last date for Submission of Proposals : 31st July, 2017
