Faculty of Law PhD Program 2018

Faculty of Law at the University of Copenhagen calls for applications for number of fully funded doctoral positions to start in December 2016. The Faculty offers the following fully funded doctoral positions:

  • Regular PhD positions 
  • Integrated Master’s and PhD (3+5) program 

Academic Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have received a degree that is equivalent to the Danish Master of Laws or equivalent qualifications.
  • Applicants must have got min. overall grade average of 8.2 or above at the Master’s level according to Danish grading scale.
  • Applicants for the integrated PhD program must have attained a degree that is equivalent to the Danish Bachelor of Laws or equivalent qualifications.
  • Applicants may submit their application before completion of their degree though; they must submit the final evaluation for their course before 1 June 2018.
  • Applicants must have ability for research through the commendable assessment of their final thesis, publications or academic references in order to show that they are capable of pursuing the demanding task of writing a PhD thesis.
  • Applicants whose native language is not English must prove proficiency in English (IELTS-6.5, TOEFL- 90 (internet-based) or 231 (computer-based).

Financial aid:

  • regular monthly salary according to Danish law
  • annual research budget
  • No accommodation is provided by the faculty

  • Research project proposal
  • Resume (not more than 2 pages)
  • Certified copies of original diploma(s) and transcripts (both Bachelor’s & Master’s degree) in the original language and an accredited English translation
  • Name of a member of academic staff whom applicant want to have assigned as supervisor.
  • Letter of motivation explaining the choice of the Faculty of Law at the University of Copenhagen as a host institution for the proposed project and outlines how the project fits within the research priorities at the Faculty (not more than 1 page).
