Bournemouth University offers fully funded PhD Studentship in Development and validation of a novel smartphone application for the assessment of acute and chronic stress, allowing the investigation of eating behaviours in association with stress during everyday life.

About the project:

  • This project aims to develop and validate a novel smartphone application for the assessment of both acute and chronic stress during everyday life.
  • The project will utilise this application to investigate associations between stress and eating behaviour.
  • The work will be undertaken in a series of studies, based on: reviewing existing measures of stress; development of a smartphone application; testing and validating the application in real world stress-based situations; the investigation of eating behaviours in relation to acute and chronic stress.

Duration: 3 years

Studentship value: fully-funded; stipend £14,000 each year (supports living costs).

Starting date: January 2018

Requirements:

  • Applicant must hold an Honours degree at 2:1 or higher and/or a relevant Master’s degree.
  • Applicants not from native English countries, then he/she need IELTS 6.5 (Academic) or above.
  • Applicant must hold degrees in an appropriate discipline: Psychology, Nutrition, Public Health, Cognitive Science, Human Computer Interaction or Computing.
  • Applicants having computing experience would be advantageous; prior knowledge of smartphone application development is not required
