MPI for Chemical Energy Conversion: Postdoc/Group Leader Position (Chemistry/Physics) 1450 views

The Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion and the department of “Inorganic Spectroscopy” invites applications for a Postdoc or Group Leader Position with a PhD degree in Chemistry or Physics.

Supervisor: Prof. Serena DeBeer

Duration: initially for 12 months; postdoc appointment possible for up to 3 years and a group leader appointment for up to 5 years

Salary: remunerated according to the labor agreement for public service (TVöD)

About the Job:

  • Selected fellow will work as a member of the experimental X-ray spectroscopy team applying both novel in-house, as well as synchrotron-based, X-ray spectroscopic approaches to challenging questions in both biological and chemical catalysis
  • strong emphasis will be placed on the development of in situ setups for monitoring reactions under in operando conditions

Qualifications:

  • Applicant must hold PhD degree (and possible post-doctoral experience) in experimental chemistry or physics, with previous X-ray spectroscopy experience.
  • Applicant must have a strong background in spectroscopy and a sound foundation in basic concepts of inorganic chemistry (including molecular orbital and ligand field theory).
  • Applicant holding experience with stop-flow methods and/or electrochemistry would be advantageous.
