PhD grants in Nanotechnology (approx. 40 – 50 studentships) are available at  the NanoDTC – EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, University of Cambridge.

Program: MRes + PhD programme in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.

Areas of research:

  1. Physical Sciences including Chemistry, Physics,
  2. Materials and Engineering.

Duration: 4-year programme

Key research areas: The research will focus on:

  1. Assembly of Functional Nanomaterials & Nanodevices,
  2. Nano Sciencethrough Engineering to Applications,
  3. Scalable nanomaterials and nanodevices.
  4. Research in the centreis aligned along four themes:
    1. Sustainable Nano, Energy Materials, Nano Biotechnologies and Nanoelectronics/Photonics
    2. Energy Materials: Batteries, Photocatalysis of H2O, Photovoltaics, Solar fuels, Supercapacitors,
    3. Sustainable Nano: Functional Nanomaterials, Green Processes, Efficient Nano-Assembly,
    4. Nano Biotechnologies: Sensing, Targeting of disease, Microfluidics, Scaffolds, Cellular Imaging,
    5. Nano electronics / Photonics: Spintronics, Piezoelectrics, Nanophotonics, Graphene, Organic electronics

Qualifications / Requirements:

  1. Post-graduate with a high degree (equivalent to a Ist classhonours (1st) or Second class honours, upper division in a relevant science or engineering discipline. International applican
  2. Applicants should be innovation, nanoscience and nanotechnology,
  3. Be motivated to work across traditional disciplinary boundaries.

Funding:

  1. UK students and EU students resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
  2. Funding for exceptional EU and overseas students may also available.
