National Institute of Immunology (NII) invites applications for Ph.D. program.

Research areas: Cutting-edge research at the institute encompasses broad interdisciplinary areas:

  1. Infection and Immunity;
  2. Genetics, Molecular, and Cellular Biology;
  3. Chemical, Structural, and Computational Biology;
  4. Reproduction and Development.

Required Minimum qualifications:

  1. M.Sc. in any branch of Science (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics) M.Tech., M.B.B.S.. M.V.Sc, M.Pharm. or equivalent qualification as per the norms of Jawaharial Nehru University (JNU).
  2. At least 60% aggregate score or equivalent grade in 12th, Bachelor’s & Master’s degree is required.
  3. Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination the academic year are also eligible to apply.

Selection procedure:

NII will select candidates for the Ph.D. program through the following CHANNELS;

  1. Entrance Exam to be conducted by Nil at 5 different centres – New Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata and
    Guwahati on February 19, 2017 (Sunday).
  2. Joint Graduate Entrance Examination in Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS-2017) to be held on 11,h December 2016).

Applications Procedure: Candidates must appear in at least one of the two examinations mentioned above. Candidates will be short-listed for an interview based on their scores in the Nil Entrance Examination or JGEEBILS-2017.

The list of candidates short-listed for interviews shall be available on the website of the institute as well as on the Notice Board of the institute by March 31,2017.

Interviews will be held at the National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi from 14th to 16th June, 2017.

Candidates selected after the interviews will be enrolled for the Ph.D. program of Nil in academic affiliation with JNU, New Delhi. Candidates joining the program will be paid second class train fare on providing the proof of journey.

Important:

  1. The program will start on July 10, 2017 and the allotment of laboratories will be made within two weeks based on the performance of the candidate in the written test and the interviews, and his/her choices of research area.
  2. The institute currently provides a Fellowship of Rs 25000/-per month.
