Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) and the Department of Environmental Sciences (IMV) has an open PhD position for 3-year (full time) in grassland ecology/biogeochemistry. PhD project is on nitrogen use efficiency and N2O emissions in perennial cropping systems–the importance of below-ground processes. Reference number for the position is 16/04820

Academic qualifications

  • Applicant must have Master’s degree or a comparable degree (120 ECTS) in agronomy, ecology, biology, soil science or environmental sciences, which is preferably obtained within the last 5 years.
  • Applicant must be proficient in English.
  • Applicant is expected to demonstrate strong academic interest in modern biogeochemical research questions and basic understanding of suitable research approaches, including the use of stable isotopes.
  • Applicant must be proficient experimentalist, with interest to work both in the field and the laboratory. Interest in practical and societal aspects of Norwegian agronomy will be an asset.

  • Hands-on attitude to experimental and analytical work
  • Capability to work in a team with scientists and field technicians
  • Good communication skills (oral & written)
  • Scandinavian language fluency
