The Chevening-Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OCIS) Fellowship is an association between the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office and OCIS. The fellowships are dedicated to mid-career professionals who are committed to the advancement of academic activities which encourage a more informed understanding of the culture and civilization of Islam and contemporary Muslim societies.

The Fellowship offers financial (monetary) support to individuals to pursue a period of independent study and research at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies.

Fellowship value:

  • Applicant must demonstrate the potential to rise to positions of leadership and influence; personal, intellectual and interpersonal attributes reflecting this potential.
  • Applicant must be a national of one of the mentioned countries, who will return to native country at the end of the period of fellowship.
  • Applicant must hold postgraduate level qualification (or equivalent professional training or experience in a relevant area) at the time of application.
  • Applicant must have professional or academic research experience of 5 or more years.
  • Applicant must be English proficient
