Psychology Lecturer; National University of Ireland 1184 views

Applications are called for the post of Lecturer (Below the Bar), Psychology at NUI Galway. The successful candidate will have expertise in the area of Health Psychology. The Lecturer will have basic responsibilities within the PG programs (M.Sc. & Structured PhD) in Health Psychology and the delivery of lectures and health research components in undergraduate degree program in Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy. The Lecturer will also be part of other programs in the School.

Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching: To give instruction and supervision. The post-holder is also required to be available to students for academic advice.
  2. Research: To engage in research and other creative and innovative activity as appropriate to the discipline. The post-holder is encouraged to engage in initiatives to seek research funding, as appropriate. He/She will also encourage the promotion and engage in the development of collaborative research.
  3. Contribution and Scholarly Activity: The post-holder shall carry out these duties under the direction of the Head of the School or of an authorized senior member of the staff of the School.

Eligibility Requirements:

Essential Requirements:

  1. PhD in Psychology (pertinent to health psychology).
  2. Experience of teaching.
  3. Capability of supervising UG and PG research.
  4. Familiarity of program or module administration at third level.
  5. Proof of research activity and publication related to the above mentioned subject
  6. Proof of administrative co-ordination experience in an academic setting
  7. Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  8. Excellent interpersonal skills

Desirable Requirements:

  1. Academic qualification in the related subject
  2. Teaching experience in Health Sciences
  3. Experience module development.
  4. Success in applications for research funding
  5. Contribution to the discipline of Health Psychology (e.g., conference organization, involvement in professional societies, etc.)
