Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India) invites applications to join the PhD programme of the Institute in Physics and Biophysical Sciences starting from 2019-20 Session.

About the program:

  • Programme starts with a pre-PhD course work (also known as Post M.Sc. programme).
  • For Physics stream: Post M.Sc. programme is divided into two streams: Theoretical Physics and Experimental Physics.

Fellowships and benefits:

  • SINP fellowships for candidates who are selected through JEST, JGEEBILLS, GATE: ₹25,000/- p.m. for 1st two years; ₹28,000/- p.m. for subsequent years
  • Duration: 4 years, extendable to 5th year
  • Extramural fellowships awarded by external funding authorities of Govt of India (UGC, CSIR NET, DBT and ICMR) for candidates who are selected through NET: as per rules
  • For all candidates, Limited hostel accommodation will also be available

Number of places:

  • Candidates with SINP Fellowship: 20
  • Candidates with Extramural Fellowship: 20

Eligibility:

  • Physics: M.Sc. in Physics.
  • Biophysical Sciences: M.Sc. in Physics / Chemistry (with Life Science at 10+2 level) or MSc in Life Sciences (with Chemistry and Mathematics at 10+2 level).
  • Applicants appearing in the final examinations for their Masters’ degrees during the current academic session may also apply.

  • Candidates seeking admission to SINP Ph.D. programmes need to apply through on-line application portal (available from March 1, 2019) with hall ticket or roll or registration number/rank/percentile marks of national level qualification tests like JEST-2018, JGEEBILS-2018, NET, GATE.
  • JGEEBILS-2018 qualified candidates: Leave the “Rank” field blank.
  • Applicant must ensure the correctness of address with pincode, e-mail and phone number. E-mail will be used to send admit card automatically.
  • Applicant must enter only percentage marks up to first place of decimal (xx.x) without the % symbol.
