University of Tokyo: International Summer Program 2112 views

University of Tokyo offers summer program at the School of Engineering, is an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to participate in scientific research projects at world-leading laboratories.

About the program:

  • full-time laboratory program is 3-5 weeks long (depending on the laboratory the student belongs to)
  • the program also provides students with chances to learn about the Japanese culture and language
  • summer program students are welcome to use the UTokyo campus facilities (libraries, health center, gymnasium)

Duration:

  • 3-6 weeks between June 25, 2018 and August 10, 2018.
  • Students must start the program on either June 25 or July 2, 2018.

Number of places: Maximum 20 students

Stipend: JPY 80,000 (fixed; amount independent of program length)

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be an Undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in UTokyo partner university or other institution designated by the School of Engineering.
  • Applicant must hold strong record of academic performance.
  • Applicant must demonstrate high level of English proficiency; TOEFL (iBT) score of 79, or IELTS overall band score of 6.0 or equivalent.
  • Applicant must demonstrate interest in pursuing a Ph.D.
  • Applicant should not have taken part in this program before.
