URF (University Research Foundation) with the Office of the Vice Provost for Research is glad to declare new funding opportunities. The main aim of the new programs is to optimize assets for Penn faculty to generate new information.

URF will tender the following grant opportunities:

Research Grants (Formerly URF):
  1. URF Research Grants awards up to $50,000.
  2. URF provides limited support on a competitive basis for investigator research study and conferences
  3. Grant Term, One year only. Unexpended money must be returned. A no cost expansion must be approved by the Vice Provost for Research. Extensions will not be made for longer than Six months. A time to time progress report including a revised financial statement will be required.
  4. Request for renewal of a previously funded project may be submitted but will receive less priority.
  5. Applications not formerly funded must be revised, changes should be evidently indicated.

Conference Support Grants:

  1. The conference support program is intended for scholarly meetings that will be taking place on Penn’s campus.
  2. Applicants can requests up to $3,000. Money to be used for presentations, traveling and accommodations. Funds are not to be used for meals and leisure.
  3. Grant is only for One year Unspent money must be returned. Impact Seminar Grants

Impact Seminar Grants:

  1. These grants funds cross-School, cross-disciplinary activities to be held on Penn’s campus within a year of the award. Proposals should be focused on a subject of research that draws on faculty expertise across disciplines.
  2. A final statement must be submitted that outlines the activities of the event, which could comprise new collaborative events, outreach, publications, and grants.
  3. Applicants can requests up to $20,000. The budget may be devoted to facilities, honoraria, travel, advertising materials, and other directly connected expenses, including the sustenance of graduate and undergraduate students.
  4. Grants are awarded for One year only

Research Opportunity Development Grants: Phase I

  1. The Research Opportunity Development Grants (RODG) assists teams of interdisciplinary researchers in inventing new fields that support substantive new research programs.
  2. Applicant can apply for up to $10,000.
  3. Grant Term is One year only

Research Opportunity Development Grants: Phase II

  1. Anticipated outcomes would be a novel proposal in a rising research area, co-authored publications, combined presentations, and workshops.
  2. Applicant can requests $50,000-$200,000 will be considered. Acceptable costs include equipment, non-faculty salaries, and tour expenses related to the project.
  3. Grant Term is for Two years only.
