Woest Fellowship: Historic New Orleans Collection 1538 views

The Historic New Orleans Collection opens applications for the A.Y. 2020-21 Woest Fellowship. The Woest fellowship backs scholarly research on the history and culture of Louisiana and the Gulf South. While THNOC resources should play a central role in the proposed research agenda, fellows are also encouraged to explore other research facilities in the Greater New Orleans area.

Eligibility:
  • Applicant must hold PhD and be academic and museum professionals, and independent scholars.
  • Applicants can be of any nationality (U.S. citizenship is not mandatory)
  • Applicants must be fluent in English.
  • Selected fellows are expected to acknowledge The Collection in any published work drawing on fellowship research.
  • Applicants are considered without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, disability, or any other protected status.

Fellowship Value:

  • Stipend: $4,000
  • Fellows may select their period(s) of residence, but all research must commence and conclude during the specified fellowship term (April 1, 2019–March 31, 2020).

  • Research proposal (not to exceed 6 double-spaced pages, which must contain: scope of project; relevance of research materials at The Historic New Orleans Collection; anticipated product of research (book, dissertation, exhibition, etc.)
  • Two Letters of recommendation; letters must be sent under separate cover.
