Opening for a PhD candidate or post-doctoral fellow at Gilat Research Center, Decision support tools for irrigation is available at Agricultural Reserach Organization (ARO), Volcani Center campus, Isreal.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating, managing and operating an investigation involving coupling of physical-biological models (simulating water-soil-plant-atmosphere processes and predicting water requirements and yields as a function of irrigation water quality and irrigation regime) with economic data bases and tools for evaluating profit as well as environmental and social costs.
The work is multidisciplinary requiring interactions between physics, chemistry, crop science, economics, mathematics and computer programming. A candidate with background and interests in one or more of these topics will coordinate and utilize a team of experts in the others in order to develop decision support tools regarding water quality for irrigation of agricultural crops.
