CSIR-NCL invites applications for PhD programme of the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) in Science and Engineering from eligible candidates, for the August 2018 session. Interested candidates are requested to go through the eligibility criteria given below and the details under various links on the left side.

Eligibility criteria for Regular candidates

PhD Programme in Science:

(i) Masters degree in Chemical/Physical/Biological and related Sciences/Technology OR a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Medicine or B.S (of 4 year duration)

AND

(ii) A valid research fellowship offer (JRF/SRF) from UGC/CSIR/DBT/ICMR/BINC/DST-INSPIRE/UGC-RGNF/UGC-MANF or any other equivalent research fellowship programme.

PhD Programme in Engineering:

Candidates holding (i) a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering/ Technology/ related discipline or (ii) a Masters degree in Chemical Engineering/ Technology/related discipline or (iii) a Masters degree by Research in Chemical Engineering /Technology /related discipline. All with above qualifications should also have a good academic record with a valid gate score or UGC/CSIR NET/NBHM or equivalent.

New PhD Program in Engineering : Computational Biology and Bio Engineering :

Eligibility requirements are identical to the PhD program in science, i.e. a four-year bachelor’s degree, or a Masters degree in science or technology in a relevant branch of science or engineering AND a valid national-level fellowship tenable at NCL.

Candidates without any valid research fellowship as mentioned above or those who have qualified only the CSIR/UGC lectureship (LS) category or GATE or any other national level test without any fellowship are not eligible to apply for PhD programme in Science. Such applications will not be considered.

Eligibility criteria for Sponsored candidates

PhD Programme in Science:

Personnel from industry holding a M.Sc. (or equivalent) degree in Sciences

PhD Programme in Engineering:

Personnel from industry holding a Masters or a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering/Technology/related disciplines.

Students applying to the Computational Biology and Bioengineering program should apply to

Applications of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Fellows (SPMF) will be considered for direct admission.

Note:
(a) Current Project Assistants working at CSIR-NCL are eligible to apply if they satisfy the requirements specified by CSIR/CSIR-NCL.

(b)Regular Ph.D. students of CSIR-NCL who are not registered and wish to register in AcSIR should apply online at AcSIR admission site (http://acsir.res.in) and submit hardcopy of application to SAO along with copy of admission OM

(c) Students who have not qualified the JRF examination and are not eligible to apply for the PhD program may apply to individual scientists and enquire about the possibility of Project Assistantships.
