Postdoc position in Development of Porous Carbon Nanomaterials for Bioelectrochemistry at DTU Chemistry ( TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF DENMARK). A 1-year postdoctoral position at DTU Chemistry is available from March 1st, 2016 with a possibility of extension to another year. The position is located at NanoChemistry Group.

The postdoc fellow is expected to work on project ‘Development of Porous Carbon Nanomaterials for Bioelectrochemistry’. The project will be supervised by Associate Professor Jingdong Zhang (main supervisor) and Professor Jens Ulstrup (co-supervisor).

Responsibilities and tasks

  • Design and development of porous carbon nanomaterials using chemical methods for Bioelectrochemistry.
  • Communication with supervisors and members at the group and Department of Chemistry at DTU
  • Summarizing results and drafting manuscripts
  • Helping young students in the lab

The position offers an opportunity to work with an international, dynamic and multi-disciplinary project.

Qualifications / Requirements –

A suitable candidate must have a PhD degree in chemistry or physics, or academic experience equivalent to a PhD degree in engineering. The candidate must graduate from outside of DTU and within four years of their PhD graduation. A candidate who has recently graduated must have completed his/her PhD study and successfully defenced his/her PhD dissertation.

A strong experimental experience in bioelectrochemistry, nanochemistry, inorganic chemistry, materials chemistry and physical chemistry is required. Particularly,

  • A candidate with experience and knowledge in bioelectrochemistry, bioelectrocatalysis, enzyme electrochemistry, chemical synthesis of nanoporous carbon materials and in advanced microscopies such as scanning tunnelling microscope, atomic force microscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) will be preferred.
  • A strong knowledge and experience in chemical syntheses of nanoporous carbon materials and electrochemistry.
  • Strong motivation and commitment to scientific research.
  • Enthusiasm for working with research students.
  • Independence and good communication in English.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
