Postdoc position in theoretical physics, Spain

Post-doctoral position in Theoretical quantum-nano photonics

The theoretical quantum nanophotonics group led by Dr. Darrick Chang has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow to work on a wide variety of topics. The group focuses on investigating novel techniques to manipulate quantum light-matter interactions in atomic, nanophotonic, mechanical, and solid-state systems, and advancing theoretical tools to understand these phenomena.

Specific topics of interest include quantum optical and mechanical devices based on graphene, quantum interfaces between atoms and nanophotonic systems, quantum plasmonics, Casimir forces and traps, and strongly correlated systems of ultracold atoms and photons.

The candidate will participate in and independently develop novel research projects in any of the areas mentioned above, and closely collaborate with leading experimental groups in these fields.

How to Apply – Before formally applying, those interested in the position are highly encouraged to first send an email to Dr. Chang directly with a CV and brief, informal statement of research interests.

Qualifications – Candidates must hold an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) preferably in theoretical physics, with additional expertise in atomic/molecular/optical physics, nano-photonics, condensed matter physics, and/or quantum information science. The candidate should have a proven track record of excellence in academics and research.

No restrictions of citizenship apply to the ICFO post-doctoral contracts.

The contract is offered for periods of one year, renewable for a total of up to three years.

Before formally applying, those interested in the position are highly encouraged to first send an email to Dr. Chang directly with a CV and brief, informal statement of research interests.

Note that formal applications shall be submitted online via http://jobs.icfo.eu.

Suitable candidates are requested to submit:
– Presentation letter with a declaration of interest,
– Curriculum Vitae, including full address, a contact phone number and e-mail address,
– The contact e-mail of two potential referees.
Applications can also be submitted by post to the Post-Doc Screening Committee (Ref. TQNP-PDF).

Candidates should be willing to be contacted by phone during the selection process.

Candidates may contact icfojobs@icfo.eu for informal enquiries regarding the application, as well as address scientific enquiries to darrick.chang@icfo.eu.
