Postdoctoral Fellowship in History, Art and Philosophy Norway

A Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship (SKO 1352) is vacant in the Department of Philosophy, Classics, History of Art and Ideas at the University of Oslo (UiO). The post is open to applicants with any specialization within Greek and Latin. Preference may be given to applicants whose research profiles fit ongoing projects and research interests in the section, see http://www.hf.uio.no/ifikk/english/research/. The Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will be a member of the department and will normally be expected to have his or her residence and work place in Oslo, and to be an active member of the research community at the University of Oslo. The post is available for 2.5 years starting in the autumn of 2015. 10% of the work will be devoted to teaching and administrative duties.

The main purpose of post-doctoral research fellowships is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their disciplines.

Requirements

A PhD in Greek or Latin (or equivalent). The dissertation must be submitted at the closing date and successfully defended before a candidate may take up the position.

Qualifications and personal skills

We are looking for a strongly motivated, competent and internationally oriented candidate, with high academic qualifications in one or several of the research areas specified above.

In assessing the applications, special emphasis will be placed on the candidate’s track record and the quality of the proposed project.

Personal suitability and co-operation skills will receive special attention in the selection process.

Familiarity with a Scandinavian language would be an advantage but not a requirement.

A project description of around 5 pages, including a schedule for completion of the contribution within the given time frame.
