Postdoc Position – Theoretical Chemistry or Physics at Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion, Mülheim an der Ruhr, germany. The department “Molecular Theory and Spectroscopy” at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion is presently looking for candidates for a Postdoc (f/m) with a PhD degree in Theoretical chemistry or Physics.Job Description

The MPI CEC is presently looking for a candidate with a strong background theoretical chemistry with emphasis on spectroscopy and spin dependent properties. Extensive experience in programming and algorithm development will be a necessary requisite. The candidate will carry out an exciting project in the framework of the German priority program SPP 1601 ‘New Frontiers in Sensitivity for EPR Spectroscopy’. The aim of the project is to develop a large scale local coupled cluster method for the accurate calculation of EPR properties of large molecules.

Qualifications
You should have a PhD degree in theoretical chemistry or physics with emphasis on method and algorithm development. A background in the theory of spectroscopic properties, in particular spin dependent response properties would be helpful. Knowledge about coupled cluster theory would be appreciated.

Our offer
The postdoctoral position is available in a group of Professor Dr. Frank Neese in molecular and heterogeneous catalysis, combined with computational chemistry. The position is available immediately, however the starting date is flexible. The position is initially for 12 months. A prolongation up to 2 years is possible. The position is remunerated according to the German public service pay scale (E13 TVÖD).
