Research Associate Positions in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering in Unilever USA

Candidate will independently research, conduct experiments (lab batching), gather data, and develop conclusions resulting in new/improved body wash products to support business needs. Work on cross functional and global teams, representing technical perspective. Adapt to daily challenges and priority changes within business environment.

They will design and implement all technical aspects of projects, including final product design, specifications, and factory start-up, to ensure on time, in full delivery. Candidate will assess feasibility of new ideas and write technical plans for their development. The development process managed by the candidate will include coordination with Process Engineering, Microbiology, Specifications Management, Regulatory and Packaging teams, and regional counterparts. This role will also include working closely Innovation Planning, Supply Management, and Marketing partners to stay up to date on key project activities.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  1. Plans, implements and evaluates formulation prototypes using standard scientific methods (i.e. statement of purpose, documented procedure, interpretation of results and conclusion).
  2. Demonstrates knowledge of the steps involved in the overall product development cycle.
    Understands the role, which all R & D functional areas play in the overall product development process.
  3. Effectively uses internal and external evaluation procedures as appropriate.
  4. Must demonstrate the ability to understand, follow instructions, guide and instruct others as needed.
  5. Prepares detailed reports and memos.
  6. Actively participate in and effectively conducts meetings with technical and non-technical personnel.
  7. With minimum supervisory input, must demonstrate the ability to present information to both technical and non-technical audiences

Key Requirements

BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field with 0-1 plus years of experience in product development

Demonstrates understanding of basic laboratory techniques and procedures for the evaluation of product functionality and stability.

Demonstrates knowledge of the chemical, physical, and functional properties of raw materials.

Must demonstrate basic understanding of experimental design techniques.
