Two postdoctoral researchers Biomedical Mass Spectrometry: Faculty of Science – Van ‘t Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences. The Van ‘t Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences (HIMS) is one of eight institutes of the University of Amsterdam Faculty of Science. HIMS performs internationally recognized chemistry and molecular research, curiosity driven as well as application driven. This is done in close cooperation with the chemical, flavour & food, medical and high-tech industries.

Research is organised into four themes: Sustainable Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Computational Chemistry and Molecular Photonics. To strengthen the Molecular Biosystems group we are looking for a postdoctoral research fellow (m/f) in the field of clinical mass spectrometry.

The Molecular Biosystems group has recently started a new research program and is looking for postdoctoral scientists for its biomedical proteomics research. Of particular interest are researchers with experience of the latest mass spectrometers, clinical proteomics or separations sciences.

Project description

You will work as an independent researcher focusing on the development and application of mass spectrometric tools and allied technologies that together form integrated methods for the analysis of clinical and forensic samples. The clinical and forensic research projects involve the development and application of several different techniques that centre on the MS as the key technology. You will be involved in DIA, targeted analysis, novel ionisation methods, clinical proteomics and separation sciences. Various clinical and biomedical projects form the background to our technology developments.

Requirements

You must have a PhD in broad field of chemistry, life sciences and biotechnology, with a experience in the use of mass spectrometry in your recent research. Publications in peer-reviewed international journals and other work highlighting your experience will be carefully considered in the selection process and previous experience in quantitative MS is a particular advantage, as well as research on clinical samples. Applications from candidates who do not meet any one of these requirements will not be considered. You are expected to exhibit the highest degree of reliability and accuracy to assure high quality results. Additionally you will collaborate closely with analytical biochemistry, molecular biology, clinical and computational research staff to design, plan, and perform experiments, collect data, and conduct data analysis. As part of our research community, mentoring of junior scientists and research associates is also anticipated.
