Position as PhD Research Fellow (Stipendiat SKO 1017) is available at Department of Chemistry / Centre for Materials Science and Nanotechnology (SMN).

Job/ project description:
The position is part of the ongoing research into light conversion materials, TRAnsition metal and LAnthanide based Luminescent Absorber Layers by Ald. This work is a collaboration including the Department of Chemistry, Physics and Institute for Energy Technology, aiming to develop efficient down conversion materials for silicon solar cells.
The research fellow will be working on a project aiming to develop multicomponent oxide thin films to convert UV photons into more-than-one lower energy photon. The fellow will work in close collaboration with researchers in inorganic chemistry, luminescence and solar cell manufacturing.
Requirements/qualifications:
The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition of being a leading research faculty. Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in Chemistry or Physics, and have practical experience in at least one of the following: Inorganic material synthesis, complex and nanostructured oxides, optical materials, photoluminescence. Good cooperation skills in addition to taking initiative are considered an advantage. Some instrumental operation and maintenance tasks must be expected.
Candidates without a Master’s degree have until 30 June 2015 to complete the final exam.
The purpose of the fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree.
The fellowship requires admission to the PhD program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The application to the PhD program must be submitted to the department no later than two months after taking up the position. For more information see here and here.

Salary:
Pay grade: 50 – 57 (NOK 429 700 – 482 800 per year)
