DDRA- The Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Fellowship Program provides opportunities to PhD scholars to engage in full-time dissertation research abroad in modern foreign languages and area studies. DDRA is designed to contribute to the development and improvement of the study of modern foreign languages and area studies in the United States.

About the Program

The project period is 18 months. Funding will be for a period of six months to 12 months (not exceeding 12 months). Funds includes: travel expenses to and fro; maintenance allowance and dependents(s) allowances based on the location; an maintainance for research related expenses overseas; and health and accident insurance.

Eligibility

• Institutions of higher education (IHEs) in the US are eligible to apply for grants.
• Apirants shall first submit their individual applications to the IHE, then IHE submits all eligible individual student applications with its grant application to the U.S. Department of Education.
• Candidate should be a legal citizen, national, or permanent resident of the US.
• Candidate must be graduate with brillaint ranking at an IHE.
• Candidate must be admitted in a PhD program in modern foreign languages and area studies at that institution at the stating of fellowship period
• Candidate should aspire to become a teacher in the US afetr completion of his or her doctoral program.
• Understanding of foreign language to carry out the dissertation research project

Application Procedure:

• Applications to be submitted electronically using the G5 system.
• During filing of electronic application, both the IHE and the student will be entering data online that will be saved into a database.
• The process of submitting applications under the above mentioned Program has several parts. Make sure to refer all the regulations before filling up the form.
