Hindustani Classical Music; Mani Mann Fellowship 1271 views

Mani Mann Fellowship in Hindustani Classical Music is awarded to young musicians to study and learn under the guidance of a celebrated guru of Indian Classical Music. The Fellowship has been started to encourage promising young artists to progress in their field. This fellowship will permit the recipient to have the resources and time to dedicate to the art.

Eligibility:

  • Fellowship is only open to Indian Citizens in the age group of 25 to 40.
  • Fellowship particularly encourages women applicants; all proposals that promote the Hindustani classical Music are welcome.
  • Applicant must hold a degree or diploma from a recognized university or institution in the field.
  • Candidate must have at least 10 years of initial training in Indian classical music.
  • Fellow would be required to have given at least 2-3 solo performances to his/her credit in recognized platforms.

Duration: 3 months; would be a residency program. The program can be extended over to one year. This will require the candidate to take approval from his/her current guru and the guru he/she would want to go to.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Grant of Rs. 100,000 will be given in 2 phases; the Ist installment at the beginning of the award and the IInd installment after finishing of the project report when the candidate may be requested to give a vocal recital.
  • A short mid-term progress report will be required.

  • Candidates must send CV (two pages) and a write up of approx 500 words explaining their project.
  • Candidate’s full postal and telephonic contact details together with any E-mail-id should be submitted to enable contact.
  • Few samples of earlier work, project/performances must be submitted.
  • 2 References with the names and contact addresses/telephones must also be sent.

The application must bear the title ‘Mani Mann Fellowship’ on the envelope when sent by post and in subject line if sent through email on fellowships@sanskritifoundation.org
