JAUW International Fellowship Program for women 2866 views

Japanese Association of University Women (JAUW) invites applications for its 2019 International Fellowships. This program offers core funding to financially help scholars to come and stay in Japan to further pursue ongoing study/research.

Note: Next call Opening in November 2018 and March 31, 2019

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must be a woman of any nationality but other than Japanese, living outside Japan at the time of application.
  • Applicant must have received a Master’s degree or its equivalent, and presently work outside academia, or are a student/researcher higher than MA /its equivalent level (typically of pre-doctoral or dissertation level).
  • Postdoctoral researchers may apply but they may be placed lower in priority.
  • Applicant will have to find a host university or institution in Japan by itself, and have to submit, at the time of application, a Letter of Acceptance from that host or from potential supervisor thereof (JAUW will not extend any help regarding this matter).
  • Applicant has to explain in the proposal why she wants to come to stay in Japan to pursue the ongoing study or research.
  • Applicant must state clearly in the proposal how and in what aspect she will contribute to home country through study/ research in Japan.

Number of fellowships: Up to 2 fellowships

Fellowship value: ¥700,000 to ¥1,000,000 per grantee.

Duration: 5 to 6 months between October 2019 and March 2020 (depending on proposal).

Application Procedure

  • Applications must be submitted using the official forms, downloaded from JAUW homepage.
  • All entries of the Application Forms must be single spaced, and typed in English. The format must be kept as specified in each form.
  • 5 copies of each of the completed Application Forms (i.e. both part 1 and part 2), and all other Application documents must be sent in one single packet via airmail to:
