The University of Alaska (UA) Fairbanks and the Alaska Satellite Facility (ASF) are seeking a candidate for Post Doctoral Researcher Position in the field of Radar Remote Sensing.

The successful applicant will work with the ASF Chief Scientist on the development of new radar remote sensing techniques and their integration into operational processing flows.

Tasks / Involvement

  1. Conducting his/her own independent research in the field of SAR, the successful candidate will be expected to assist the Chief Scientist of ASF in the development of new value-added products, the education of the ASF user community in the use of radar remote sensing data, and the representation of ASF at science conferences.
  2. This position will also support the Chief Scientist in improving ASF”s service to the science and hazards communities.
  3. The writing of proposals and peer-reviewed publications is also encouraged.

Requirements 

  1. A highly motivated individual with experience in the theory and applications of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and interferometric SAR (InSAR).
  2. Knowledge in machine learning and big data analysis is also desired. Analytical skills and basic experience in programming are preferable.
  3. A readiness to work in a multidisciplinary research team is essential.
  4. The successful applicant will be able to present their work at international conferences.
  5. S. citizenship is preferred. 

Salary Information:

This position is full-time, exempt, term-funded, Grade 00_40 (Salary commensurate with experience)
