Young India Fellowship (YIF): It is a one-year multidisciplinary postgraduate diploma program in Liberal Studies.

Aim: The Fellowship brings together group of talented young men and women who show exceptional intellectual ability and leadership quality from across the country, and, thereby trains them to become socially committed agents of change.

Overview: YIF started in June 2011 with 57 Fellows selected from among total 2,000 applicants. In its fifth year, the no. of registered applicants was almost 4 times that and now the Class of 2015-16 had 198 Fellows attending the program at the Ashoka University campus.

Who can apply: Candidates with backgrounds from engineering to fashion design, medicine to fine arts, filmmaking to agriculture, and law to journalism. The Fellows should reflect India’s intellectual and geographical diversity.

Type of support: Selected candidates will be supported through scholarships and other forms of financial aid in full or part.

Organization: The Young India Fellowship at the Ashoka University is delivered in collaboration with University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS); Carleton College; University of California, Berkeley; University of Michigan; King’s College, London; Trinity College, Dublin and Sciences Po, Paris.

Eligibility Conditions

Young India Fellowship Program is open to all young men and women with:

  1. A recognized undergraduate or postgraduate degree
  2. Students who are in the final year of their undergraduate or postgraduate degree
  3. No more than 28 years of age
  4. The Fellowship promotes diversity and applicants from all areas of specialisation are encouraged to apply.
  5. It is expected that they will be able to converse, read and write in English.
