Multiple Chamberlain Fellowships in physics and cosmology, USA (2015)

Chamberlain Fellows (multiple openings): The Physics Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) announces the competition for the 2016 Owen Chamberlain Fellowships in experimental particle physics and cosmology.

The Physics Division pursues a broad portfolio of experimental research including high-energy collider physics (ATLAS), direct dark matter searches (LUX and LZ), cosmology (Type Ia Supernovae, DES, eBOSS, DESI, LSST, CMB), rare decays (Mu2e), and neutrino physics (DUNE, Daya Bay). We also have a long tradition of advanced detector development. Chamberlain Fellows may join any of the above programs, subject to funding availability.

The successful candidate will conduct research in particle physics or cosmology. Depending on the project, a Chamberlain Fellow will be involved in the design and execution of the experiment, and/or take a leading role in the data analysis and preparation of the results for publication.

Qualifications/Requirements: Applicants should have a Ph.D. awarded in the fall of 2014 or later, or should expect to receive a Ph.D. by the summer of 2016, with 1 years of experience in particle physics or cosmology research. He/she should have demonstrated ability to work as part of a collaborative team as well as to work independently.

Deadline: To assure full consideration, all application materials should be received by October 15, 2015. Chamberlain Fellows are appointed for three years, with the possibility of a two-year extension, and receive an annual research supplement of $5,000.

The Fellowship honors Berkeley Nobel Laureate Owen Chamberlain, who, together with Emilio Segre, Clyde Wiegand, and Thomas Ypsilantis, discovered the anti-proton at the Berkeley Bevatron in 1955.

Applicants for a Chamberlain Fellowship will also automatically be considered for other experimental postdoctoral positions available in the LBNL Physics Division.

HOW TO APPLY:

Please go to Academic Jobs Online to create a profile and submit the requested application materials. Note that applications can only be made via this Academic Jobs Online URL: .

The following requested application materials listed below must be submitted through Academic Jobs Online:

  1. Curriculum vitae and publications list
