The Q-LAB at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) invites applications for a PhD Position in Optical MEMS and Nanophotonics Switzerland. The Q-LAB is a recently established junior research group at EPFL, providing a stimulating and international research environment with access to state‐of the art facilities and infrastructure. We are looking for a talented and motivated doctoral student to join our team, with a passion for research and science, to advance the field of photonic micro- and nanosystems.
The research project will include the design, fabrication and characterization of novel optical MEMS and nanophotonic structures. Applicants should hold a Master’s degree (or an equivalent degree) with a strong background in microengineering, MEMS, applied physics, or a related discipline.
The successful candidate has experience with standard microfabrication technology and integrated optics. Experience in a similar field such as silicon photonics, integrated optoelectronics, optical MEMS and familiarity with advanced nanofabrication (e-beam lithography, focused ion beam) is a plus.
Applicants will need to fulfill the admission requirements of the EPFL doctoral school (http://phd.epfl.ch/application) and can enroll in the Photonics (EDPO) or Microsystems (EDMI) Doctoral Program. Competitive remuneration is offered.
Application documents should be sent to Prof. Niels Quack (niels.quack@epfl.ch).
