PhD position to study molecular mechanisms of type 1 diabetes Finland

A PhD student position is available in Molecular immunology group at Turku Centre for Biotechnology, Turku, Finland to study molecular mechanisms of type 1 diabetes. The work will focus on studying the early events resulting in the development of type 1 diabetes with proteomics approaches.The Turku Centre for Biotechnology (www.btk.fi) is a joint institute of the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University. It is a vibrant, multidisciplinary research center with state-of-the-art core facilities. We are seeking a PhD student to join our international and multidisciplinary research group to work on type 1 diabetes. Our group leads the molecular systems immunology efforts in the Academy of Finland Center of Excellence in Molecular Systems Immunology and Physiology.

Successful applicants are highly motivated, science driven and enthusiastic with self-initiative. Applicants are expected to have a relevant MSc degree as well as to be familiar with basic biochemical methods. Prior knowledge and experience in mass spectrometry and/or proteomics is highly valued.

The position is initially for one year, with an option for continuation. The salary is in accordance with the University salary system (for teaching and research personnel) level 2-4, where the work specific salary component is between 1972,55-2462,01 €/month. In addition, there is a share of increase based on the personal performance, which is at most 46,3 % of the basic (work specific) salary. There is a trial period of four months in the position.
