Victoria University and Western Water are offering a PhD scholarship to investigate algal treatment of wastewater, with recovery of algae for biofuel production.
The project seeks to identify appropriate algae for treatment of waste water and for maximising biofuel production, development of a model relating algal growth to waste water quality and to investigate techniques for algal harvesting.
A student with MSc degree (research) or a recent Honours degree in Environmental Science with emphasis on Freshwater Ecology and Analytical Chemistry or a Chemical Engineer (with Honours) is sought.
The successful applicant will be based at the Werribee Campus, Victoria University, with field work conducted at Western Water Treatment Plant at Bacchus March.
Applications are invited from candidates:
with an Honours (H1) or MSc (research) degree
who are permanent Australian residents
possess a current Victorian drivers’ licence (and their own vehicle).
