At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering a position as postdoc in the area of operations research/applied mathematics within planning and control under stochastic conditions is open for appointment from August 1, 2015 or soon thereafter. The position is within the Applied Operations Research & Operations Management group and the applicant is expected to participate in ongoing research activities within the group. The position is available for a period of 3 years.
Research profile
The successful applicant will have a demonstrated research track record within a subset of the fields of inventory management, forecasting, planning and scheduling under stochastic conditions or discrete event simulation. Extensive knowledge of all these fields is not a requirement.
Specific emphasis will be put on programming skills as well as data analysis skills.
Appropriate candidates should have a master’s and PhD degree in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics or similar. The candidate should be able to demonstrate both research height in form of ISI’s Web of Science publications and application of research in practice.
Requirements
The applicant with a solid teaching background and very strong English skills will be preferred. Teaching will primarily be within the Global Business Engineering and Operations and Supply Chain Management engineering programs, as well as in other study programs at the university. Limited teaching within the area can be expected, but also in other study programmes at the University.

Qualification requirements:
Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.
