We are seeking a candidate to consolidate the LINKMEDIA expertise in scene understanding from audio and video signals analysis. The specific topics of research are related to, but not limited to, the following areas:
– Speaking faces recognition
– Object and instance recognition
– Text detection
– Salient event detection
Your task will be to investigate and implement innovative algorithms for the extraction of relevant information from videos, in collaboration with other researchers from LINKMEDIA and with the NexGen-TV project partners
The researchers at Inria published over 4,500 articles in 2013. They are behind over 250 active patents and over 110 start-ups. The 168 project teams are distributed in eight research centers located throughout France.
This position is framed within the NexGen-TV project. NexGen-TV aims at developing a generic solution for the enrichment, the linking and the retrieval of video content targeting the cost-cutting edition of second screen and multiscreen applications for broadcast TV. The technical challenges of the project will be to aggregate and distribute video content via a second-screen edition interface connected to social media. It will primarily make use of multimedia and social media content segmentation, description, linking and retrieval. Multiscreen applications will be developed on various domaine, e.g., sports, news. While this position is hosted by the LINKMEDIA team in Rennes, intense collaboration with academic and industrial project partners is expected.
– Financial support from Inria to catering and transportation expenses
– Salary: Around 30k (EUR), i.e., 2000 EUR/month net
