Senior Research Associate: Drug Discovery Project Leader (Fixed Term)
Applications are invited for a Senior Research Associate to lead a Wellcome Trust-funded Seeding Drug Discovery project seeking to develop compounds that disrupt the Aurora A-TPX2 protein-protein interaction for the treatment of cancer. This is a collaborative project of which Professor Chris Abell (Chemistry) is the Principal Investigator working with Dr Marko Hyvonen and Professor Tom Blundell (Biochemistry), and Professor Ashok Venkitaraman (MRC Cancer Unit).
The Project Leader will coordinate activities across all three laboratories and will also play a leading role in writing further grant applications to develop the project.
Applicants should have a PhD in synthetic or medicinal chemistry or a relevant field of cancer biology. Several years of drug discovery experience, in either pharma, biotech or academia is essential, as is experience of project leadership. A part time appointment is possible.
The position is available from 01 August 2015 until 11 June 2016.
