Postdoctoral Research Fellow in MarineGenomics at University of Agder (UiA): The group invites applications for a full-time fixed-term appointment as Post-doctoral Research Fellow in marine genomics at the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Natural Sciences, for a period of three years. The position is located in Kristiansand, Norway.

However, the appointee may be required to stay partly at UiA Grimstad and partly at the Institute of Marine Research, Flødevigen. The preferred start date is 01.04.16 (negotiable with the Department).

The marine group at the Department of Natural Sciences comprises around 20 people including Professors, Professors II, researchers II, Post-docs and PhD fellows. The Post-doc will also benefit from the recently established Center for Coastal Research (CCR) in cooperation with University of Oslo, Institute of Marine Research (IMR), GRID-Arendal, NIVA and Telemark University College. The Post-doctoral position is part of the institutional focus on Marine Ecology and Evolution in cooperation with IMR. The headline of the project is “genomic analysis of marine and anadromous species”. Possible projects are studies of adaptation and fine-scaled spatial genetic structure in marine and anadromous species related to behaviour or environmental conditions. Personal initiatives are welcome.

The Post-doctoral Fellow is expected to take part in the research group and contribute to an active research environment that will give opportunities for personal and professional development. The appointee must have the ability to work in a goal-oriented, organised, focused, and independent manner. During the assessment process emphasis will be placed on the PhD work, examination results as well as any other previous research and development work. Relevant practical experience, personal suitability and good teamwork skills will also be emphasised.

Requirements / Qualifications: The successful candidate should primarily hold a PhD in Ecology/population genetics/genomics. Applicants with a PhD in Marine Biology and good skills in statistics or a PhD in Statistics and good knowledge of marine ecological topics are also welcome to apply. Teaching experience from college or university level is preferable as some teaching tasks may be included.

A high level of oral and written proficiency in English is required.
