ONE-YEAR POST DOCTORAL RESEARCHER POSITION in the research group of the Dr. Hélder Santos. The successful applicant will be part of the Pharmaceutical Nanotehcnology and Chemical Microsystems Research Unit at the Faculty of Pharmacy.The position is funded by the European Research Council (http://cordis.europa.eu/project/rcn/105963_en.html).

The main goal of the post-doc project is to develop novel multistage–multifunctional nanovectors for personalized therapy and multimodal imaging. The successful candidate will aimed to decouple the quadruple functions of the protocell nanovectors in order to generate relevant preclinical information for rapid translation into the clinic: sufficient multifunctionality to avoid biological barriers, recognition of their targets, accounting for non-invasive in vivo imaging and delivery of therapeutics. The overall distinct and final milestones of this work are: to ligand-anchored, co-loading of drug(s)-dye(s), and precisely tailored protocell nanovectors for simultaneously targeting the tumour vasculature cells, and stimulating the immune system response and multimodal imaging.

The successful candidate should have a strong PhD / postdoctoral experience within the fields of polymers, nanomedicines, microfluidics, and/or controlled drug delivery. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required and you must also demonstrate ability to work as part of a team.

The position will have a probationary period of four months. The starting date is flexible, but at the latest 1st of December 2015.

The salary will be based on level 5 of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance. The total minimum salary at the beginning of the employment is 3311,17 €/month.
