Postdoctoral Position in Synthetic Biology of Cell-Cell Interactions (Carlos Lois Lab): The Lois Lab at Caltech is seeking highly motivated individuals to work on a NIH-funded research project focused on a synthetic genetic system to monitor cell-cell interactions and to genetically manipulate interacting cells in transgenic animals.

This system will be useful to investigate cell-cell interactions during development in vivo, and to unveil wiring diagrams of neurons in brain circuits. The research combines techniques in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, imaging, engineering of viral vectors, and transgenesis in mice and drosophila.

REQUIREMENTS:

A Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, or cell biology is required. Strong expertise in molecular and cell biology (molecular cloning, cell culture, protein analysis) is necessary. Candidates must have a record of research excellence demonstrated by publication. Applicants who are motivated to develop careers as independent investigators are especially encouraged to apply.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary will be based on the NIH guidelines and commensurate with experience. The position is fully funded by NIH grants. It is anticipated that the postdoctoral fellow will stay in the lab for 4-5 years to complete the project.

CONTACT: In your application, include a detailed curriculum vitae, a short statement on future research goals, and names and contact details for at least two references to clois@caltech.edu.
