The post doc´s duties will primarily consist of research, including obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication and grant writing within the area of vaccine design and delivery, and research-based teaching. The position is financed by the Danish Council for Independent Research | Technology and Production Sciences via the research project “Magnetic resonance imaging-assisted design of a thermostable and self-administrable tuberculosis (TB) vaccine for inhalation”.
The overall aim of the project is to solve fundamental scientific and technical preclinical challenges for the design and progression of a thermostable and inhalable TB vaccine. The post doc will be employed with the aim of achieving this goal. More specifically, the post doc project comprises i) design of thermostable dry powder-based vaccine formulations suitable for inhalation, ii) in vivo immunogenicity and safety testing of the vaccine formulations, iii) magnetic resonance imaging-assisted pulmonary delivery of the powders, and iv) efficacy testing in a TB challenge model.
The project includes close collaboration with partners at Statens Serum Institut, Denmark, University of Groningen, The Netherlands and Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, USA. Some traveling activities and external stays at partner Institutions will be required.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach up to 10% of the time in areas relevant to the research project.
The appointee should have qualifications within at least some of the following areas:
•Experimentally oriented scientist,

•Protein physical stability,

Qualification requirements
In connection with the appointment to the post of post doc, special importance will be attached to the applicant having the professional and personal qualifications stated below:
•Documented scientific qualifications such as a Ph.D. or equivalent in relation to the above subject area(s)
•Fluency in English. KU generally encourages employees who do not speak Danish to acquire a working knowledge of the language.
•Well-developed collaborative skills.
•Enterprising and good interpersonal skills.
The period of employment as post doc will be limited to 3 years.
Terms of employment
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations. The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2013.
