Postdoctoral Research Fellow Position within the field of cancer metabolism at The Faculty of Medicine, Department of Circulation and Medical Imaging. A position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Circulation and Medical Imaging (ISB), Faculty of Medicine, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) is now open.
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will be part of the MR Cancer Group, which is a multidisciplinary group dedicated to research on how MR technology can improve diagnosis and therapy in cancer.
The period of employment for the position is two years. The position has the objective of qualifying for higher academic positions.
Project description
The main goal of the project “Cancer metabolism: from basic biochemistry to clinical opportunities” is to increase our understanding of how abnormal metabolism supports the growth of cancer cells, and how novel drugs targeting metabolic reactions can be used to treat cancer.
The postdoctoral research fellow will work with cancer cell lines both in vitro and in vivo, studying metabolic plasticity in response to treatment with targeted drugs as well as studies of how metabolic reprogramming contributes to metastasis.
If successful, the project will provide new basic knowledge on cancer metabolism, technological innovation in the form of proof-of-concept studies for novel low-molecular drugs and new diagnostic tools based on the abnormal cancer metabolism.
Qualifications
We seek a talented, enthusiastic and creative scientist with a strong commitment to research that suits the following criteria:
- A PhD within Medicine or Molecular Biology (or similar scientific areas)
- A strong academic record.
- Proficiency in oral and written English
Emphasis will be placed on:
- The candidate’s motivation for the position
- Good cooperation and communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as the ability to collaborate interdisciplinary
- Documented practical and theoretical experience with NMR spectroscopy and/or MR imaging
- Documented hands-on experience with cancer cell culture as well as preclinical disease models.
- The candidate must be fluent in both spoken and written English.

Depending on qualifications and academic background, Postdoctoral Research Fellows at the Faculty of Medicine will be remunerated at wage code 1352 – Normal wage level is 57 – 60, NOK 483 400 – 509 800,of which 2% is deducted for the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
