Postdoctoral fellow in organometallic chemistry and catalysis (Norway)

The Department of Chemistry (www.uib.no/en/kj) has a vacancy for a postdoctoral fellow in organometallic chemistry and catalysis. The position is for a period of 3 years and affiliated with the project GreenCAT: “Design of Green Catalysts for the Conversion of Renewable Resources into Polymers” and the research group Inorganic and catalysis. The position is funded by the Research Council of Norway. The GreenCAT project aims to converge toward the synthesis of active catalysts supported by the new combo ligand’s class for the CO2 copolymerization with transition metals. The candidate will work on synthesis and characterization of organometallic compounds and polymers in close collaboration with other national and international research groups including computational and experimental chemists. Synthesis of organometallic compounds will include the use of Schlenk line techniques, gloveboxes and for polymer synthesis the use of high pressure reactor. The characterization for organometallic compounds and polymers will be performed by NMR, MS and EPR spectroscopies, single X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, GPC-SEC and DSC.

An excellent background in the ability of high-achievement in organometallic chemistry is a pre-requisite for being eligible for the position. Prior experience in organometallic synthesis and characterization techniques, especially experience with NMR spectroscopy (including VT and in-situexperiments under operation conditions) and polymerization catalysis, will be considered a plus. Candidates must clearly indicate and document the type and level of relevant experience in synthetic and characterization techniques in their application.

The successful candidate will be integrated in a team and expected to work in synergy with other PhD and Master students meaning that there will also be the opportunity to take a leading role in the research group and to get involved in some project student supervision.
