We have recently demonstrated the feasible syntheses of novel nanomaterials from a group of uniform materials based on organic salts (GUMBOS). These novel materials have been shown to have 1) minimal cytotoxicity, 2) biodegradability, and 3) easy incorporation of multi-functional properties (e.g. near infrared absorption) for optimal use in analytical measurements.
A postdoctoral position is available to investigate the use of these materials for multiple analytical applications. To be highly competitive for this position, candidates should have a Ph.D. in chemistry, materials, physics, or related areas with research experiences in either of the following areas: analytical and/or physical chemistry, spectroscopy of materials, syntheses of nanomaterials, biological applications of nanomaterials, and syntheses of ionic liquids.
