Postdoctoral Researcher in Breast Cancer Predisposition Finland

The open position is in the field of breast cancer predisposition. We recently discovered that an orphan G protein-coupled receptor GPRC5A is a likely genetic modifier of breast cancer risk mediated by inherited mutation in BRCA1 gene (PMID: 24470238).The project aims to understand the role of GPRC5A in breast cancer and its mode of interaction with BRCA1. Our latest data indicate that GPRC5A regulates cell adhesion and migration (Bulanova et al., submitted) suggesting a possible role in tumor metastases.

Qualification and experience:

A successful candidate is expected to have a doctoral degree in a suitable field (cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, molecular genetics, biotechnology or other relevant field), and excellent skills in molecular cloning, cell culture, microscopy and protein biochemistry. Demonstrated research work in cell cycle analysis, signal transduction, and/or cell-ECM interaction is an asset. The candidate should be fluent in English and have verifiable writing and presentation skills.

Salary & contract:

A one-year contract is initially available for the position, starting on 1.9.2015. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications based on the University salary system and is expected to be in the range of 3274 – 4021 €/month depending on the credentials, previous experience and performance of the postdoctoral researcher.
