University of Bradford provides Sanctuary Scholarships to support people looking for asylum, or those already granted refugee status that cannot access student finance, to participate in higher education.
Eligibility:
- Applicant must be an asylum seeker or the partner or dependent of an asylum seeker
- Applicant can be an asylum seeker or refugee or partner or dependent who has been granted Discretionary Leave to Remain (DLR) or some other form of temporary status
- Applicant must be a refugee who is not able to access student finance due to previous study.
- Applicants must have a conditional or unconditional offer from the University of Bradford for September 2016 start at either undergraduate or Master’s level.
- Applicant must be currently attending a school, college, community or voluntary group which can provide a reference in support of the application.
- Applicant must be unable to access mainstream funding, e.g. student finance or local authorities grant.
- Applicants classed as care leavers and who earlier were under local authority care may apply; live within the Bradford Metropolitan District Council Area or live within a commutable distance to the University and be able to cover travel costs yourself, or be able to relocate to Bradford without requiring extra financial support not require support for living expenses or accommodation.
Benefits:
- Grant to cover all tuition-fees
- Travel and Course Costs Grant : c£500/year
- English Language Tuition
